About Us

Stockport Handball Club

Stockport Handball Club, established in 2023, was inspired by the striking success and impactful legacy of Trafford Handball Club in nurturing the sport of handball across Greater Manchester. With Trafford Handball Club having paved the way since 2018, working with over 2,000 young handball players and diligently fostering talent across five age groups, the creation of Stockport Handball Club marks the expansion of opportunities in the field of handball for youngsters in the region.

Inception and Mission

Born out of a shared vision to expand access and opportunities in handball to more communities, Stockport Handball Club seeks to replicate and build upon the successful model crafted by its sister club, Trafford Handball Club. The newly established club is not just a sports initiative but a commitment to provide kids with a platform where they can explore, learn, and excel in handball, ensuring that the sport’s vibrant, fast-paced, and fun nature is accessible to all.

Impactful Community Engagement

Just like Trafford, Stockport Handball Club is deeply rooted in community engagement. We envisage widespread involvement through organizing taster sessions at local schools, introducing children to the energetic world of handball, and sparking a lifelong love for the game. Through our club training sessions, spanning across various age groups, we aim to be a hub where talent, passion, and the spirit of sportsmanship in handball thrive.

Player Development Pathway

The club is staunchly committed to not only introducing the sport to novices but also to crafting pathways for those who wish to ascend to competitive levels. Mirroring Trafford's successful model, where several members have progressed to the North West Regional Academy and even national age-group teams, Stockport Handball Club aspires to be a conduit for players to scale their talents to regional and national platforms.

Leading the Charge in UK Handball Growth

Stockport Handball Club inherits the ambitious aspiration to lead and define the growth of handball in the UK from its sister club. We are positioned not merely as a club but as a mover in the larger narrative of UK handball, desiring to open up myriad opportunities for players of all abilities, thereby contributing significantly to the handball tapestry of the nation.
